El informe final de la investigación sobre el incendio en la Torre Grenfell concluye que una cadena de errores de las administraciones públicas y del sector privado posibilitó que el fuego en el edificio se convertirse en una trampa mortal.

Actualidad → Agenda → Agenda COAM En esta tercera edición del ciclo KILOS HERCIOS Y MEGABYTES. Arquitectura y nuevos medios de comunicación, el tema conductor son tres nombres de tres tipos de papel que identifican tres formas narrativas, tres espacios de comunicación. Tres canales y tres lenguajes diferentes que, a pesar de tener públicos diversos, han traspasado sus estrechos limites originales para extenderse más allá de sus expectativas, más allá del medio original y sus limitaciones.
Cuché, offset, glossy- Consumo rápido, consumo lento, cultura, información, reseña, ecos de sociedad, arte, modernidad, transversalidad. Los límites, una vez claros, entre los distintos niveles del lenguaje y sus públicos han desaparecido o, al menos, se han vuelto porosos. Desdibujados. Borrosos. La información contenida y expuesta, la comunicación se ha desligado del soporte y no está ya condicionado por aquel. Los libros se escuchan (también se leen), las series se devoran. Todo acto de comunicación puede, al menos en parte, trasladarse a otro medio, a otro campo, alterando así (para mejor en muchos casos) el mensaje. Lejos de adaptarse de forma reduccionista, este se expande en nuevas direcciones, aborda otros aspectos, se convierte en complementario y no en un sustituto.
Periodistas, escritores, escritoras, comunicadores, comunicadoras, y arquitectos y arquitectas, recorrerán, a lo largo de tres sesiones, estas páginas de papel —cuché, offset, glossy— que ya no son solo físicas y ya no son solo impresas. Nuestro objetivo, como siempre, es entender mejor el mundo en el que nos movemos y que, como profesionales, debemos mejorar. Entender como contar, como complementar, como hacer de nuestras palabras y nuestra experiencia una ampliación de nuestro trabajo que debe ser habitado, vivido, usado por los demás.

Lidia García García (Montealegre del Castillo, 1989) es investigadora y divulgadora. Doctora en Historia del Arte por la Universidad de Murcia con una tesis sobre copla y prácticas camp.
Graduada en Humanidades por la Universidad de Alicante, fue premio extraordinario de fin de carrera y obtuvo una mención a la excelencia académica de la Generalitat Valenciana. También ha sido primer premio nacional en el XV Certamen de Introducción a la Investigación Científica del Ministerio de Educación. Ha participado en congresos internacionales –en la Universidad de Cambridge y en la Southern Denmark, entre otras- con comunicaciones sobre arte contemporáneo y cultura popular y ha publicado artículos sobre esta temática tanto en revistas científicas como en medios generalistas.
Colabora en los programas Mañana más de Radio Nacional de España, en La Ventana de La Ser y es autora del podcast ¡Ay, campaneras! y del libro del mismo título.

Alba Carballal Gandoy (Lugo, 1992) es arquitecta por la ETSAM, escritora y guionista e investigadora doctoral. Su primera novela, Tres maneras de inducir un coma (Seix Barral, 2019), mejor opera prima del año para El Cultural, la situó como una de las voces jóvenes más originales del panorama literario español. Junto al ilustrador Lorenzo Sangiò publicó el álbum infantil Tu hogar en cualquier sitio (Editorial Flamboyant, 2021). Le seguiría su segunda novela, Bailaréis sobre mi tumba (Seix Barral, 2023), que recorre la historia reciente de Galicia con el chapapote como telón de fondo. Ha sido columnista del grupo Vocento y guionista en programas y series como Late Motiv, Locomundo, Manolito Gafotas y Días mejores.

Actualidad → Agenda → Agenda COAM El ciclo KILOS, HERCIOS & MEGABYTES vuelve, en su segunda edición, a presentar un espectro de formas diferentes de aproximación a la disciplina desde los nuevos (y no tan nuevos) medios de comunicación o, más interesante aún, desde la combinación de estos con los media clásicos, añadiendo capas de información a los soportes tradicionales y, sobre todo, una proximidad y capacidad de interacción antes desconocidas que debemos aprender a aprovechar.
Este interés se extiende pues desde los límites de la profesión a territorios próximos, colindantes o transversales para tratar de reflexionar sobre el conocimiento que tenemos de nosotros mismos, y de la forma en contamos nuestra labor. Si la radio y los podcasts son ya indistinguibles en muchos aspectos, también pueden llegar a serlo la agilidad de las redes sociales con la profundidad de los medios académicos tradicionales que quedan en ocasiones, y lamentablemente, en segundo plano, accesibles tan solo a público especializado.
Historiadores, ingenieros, investigadoras, periodistas, publicistas, escritoras y escritores y, también, como no, arquitectos y arquitectas, nos mostraran así, a lo largo de tres sesiones, la forma en la que se percibe nuestro trabajo desde el exterior, o quizá desde una frontera cada vez más difusa, y como este forma parte de la sociedad, de las vidas, recuerdos y experiencias de los ciudadanos y ciudadanas con quienes debemos establecer siempre un dialogo fluido y a los que, a la postre, sirve la disciplina cuando es su mejor versión.

Key responsibilities:
act as lead architect working for the client, monitoring the construction of a major education project

Within the required specialization in architecture, desired expertise includes but is not limited to design research and critical practice of architecture in the urban context, and design for healthy, livable, and resilient built environments. The school seeks candidates who will complement the skills of the faculty at the School of Architecture and provide research and teaching integrating advanced application of building materials, systems, and technologies.

A major building project has completely refurbished one part of the campus and linked our two main buildings, Burlington House and 6, Burlington Gardens, through a scheme architected by David Chipperfield RA.
The build manager supports the delivery of the Academy’s exhibitions programme and manages to build projects within our buildings. This entails managing exhibition contractors and builds within our galleries, advising on and facilitating large sculpture installations by modern and contemporary artists, and carrying out small building works within our Grade II* listed buildings.
Reporting to the head of surveying, and working closely with the exhibition managers, the build manager will project manage all aspects of gallery builds and strikes: from design processes, through tender and contract awards to build programmes and sign-off of finished work. The role will act as the Academy’s initial operational point of contact for exhibition build contractors.
In addition, the build manager will project manage small building and fit out projects on behalf of the Estates department, and as directed by the Head of Surveying, carry out administrative surveying tasks in support of the maintenance of the Royal Academy’s listed buildings.

The main duties include:
